Children in Year 1 and 2 worked with a local artist, Nicola Lynch, to create mosaic stepping stones.
We first visited the beach to explore using natural resources to make mosaic pictures.
We then invited our parents into school to help create our stepping stones.
The first thing we had to do is create our stepping stone in a sand tray.
We then helped to mix the concrete.
After that we had to make sure that the concrete was nice and smooth. We bounced and shook our trays to get rid of all the air bubbles and make it nice and smooth.
We then transferred our designs from the sand tray to our tray of concrete.
Finally we used a hammer to gently tap the stones into place.
