Erasmus+ Project

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s (EU) programme for education, training, youth and sport, with the EU committing £12 billion to the programme between 2014 and 2020. In the UK, the programme is managed by the Erasmus+ UK National Agency, a partnership between the British Council and Ecorys UK.

The project is funded under Key Action 1 of the programme, which focuses on mobility, or spending time abroad. The aim of Key Action 1 projects is to fund opportunities for individuals to improve their skills, enhance their employability and increase their knowledge of other cultures. The aim is for staff to gain valuable experience of European school education and to improve UK school education practice.

Hylton Castle Primary School were the first primary school in Sunderland to have children staying with families in other countries and we are delighted to offer this experience once again to our pupils the during 2015-17 project.

This time the project includes schools from Germany, Turkey, Poland, Sweden, France and ourselves England (Hylton Castle Primary School).

Unfortunately, we were unable to take the trip to Turkey due to the trouble in Turkey in 2016.
